Wednesday 31st January – Windsurf ** River Orwell at Levington Marina – cloudy.

Foil – 19.77 knot max, 17.54 knot ave, 12.35 knot hour, 15.13 knot mile, 17.70 km., 16.17 knot alpha (year PB).

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Storm 5.2m.

Was keen to to get out for a foil on the last day of the month to see if I could improve my best hour especially as a SW was forcast which is a good direction for the River Orwell at Levington! With high water around 3 I was in no hurry giving time for the wind to build and it warm up a little, a tad on the chilly today not helped by the covering of cloud! I arrived at the marina just before midday and managed to park by the entrance but had to move as the boatyard workers were moving a huge chain! The foil board was quickly set-up and on the beach with the tide now near enough to launch. It was not sw probably wsw not the best direction but I registered a gust of 30 mph so took a c hance with my 5.2, sadly whatever sail I rigged today would not have been right! There was no chance of getting a good hour with the wind very gusty, I had a few really good runs with some top gybes before it went really patchy. So as I was struggling to fly and getting cold it was time to call it a day, not the best session to end the month. No wind tomorrow so hope to head to Holywells Park in Ipswich to see if we can spot the otter but four days from Friday is looking very promising, breezy with temperatures reaching a balmy 14 degrees:)
